Deer Management Activities

As in past years the Borough will be resuming deer management activities at selected public properties. This year the program will be coordinated by Patrolman Christopher Hopf of the Mendham Borough Police Department. Volunteer deer management agents will be utilizing bow and arrow to cull the deer population in the Borough. Agents will be utilizing tree stands and bait stations to minimize contact with the public. All parks will remain open during deer management activities. All agents will be required to carry identification cards as will have identification on their vehicles. Additionally, signage identifying deer management areas will be posted and notification signs will be erected at the entrance of public properties.

If you have private property and wish to utilize the services one of the deer management volunteers, or if you have questions regarding the program you may contact Patrolman Hopf at 973-543-2527 or via email at hopf@mendhamnj.org

Underage Drinking on Public Property

Recently the Borough Council adopted an ordinance regarding underage drinking of  alcoholic beverages on private property.  Ordinance #2-06 prohibits underage drinking on private property without parental or legal guardian presence and consent.  The ordinance is directed towards house parties that occur when parents of guardians are away.  Several other municipalities have adopted similar laws with great success.

The ordinance does make allowances for minors to consume alcohol for religious ceremonies or while studying culinary arts.  A copy of the ordinance can be found here:
